The North Johnston Panthers put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Rosewood by a score of 48-36. Despite the win, that was the fewest points North Johnston has scored all year.
North Johnston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cory Barnes led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Gibson, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Defeat or not, Rosewood got some senior leadership from Micah Cox who scored 13 points and David Lamm who scored 15 points. Lamm scored a full 41.7% of Rosewood's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
North Johnston's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Rosewood, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.
North Johnston will head out on the road to face off against South Granville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Granville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully North Johnston likes a good challenge. Rosewood will be home for the holidays to greet Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Princeton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
