After both having extra time off, the Saint Andrew's Scots and The First Academy Royals will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Saint Andrew's sitting on six straight wins and The First Academy on 14.
Saint Andrew's is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. John Paul II Academy, sneaking past 6-4.
Saint Andrew's got a great performance from Chase Lambalot as he tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Lambalot has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaron Orozco, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Berman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, The First Academy won against Lakeland Christian two weeks ago with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Tuesday. The Royals didn't even let the Vikings on the board, marking the Royals' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 21 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lakeland Christian's batters probably weren't too happy with Thomas Achey, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (he gave up two walks).
On the hitting side, Remo Indomenico was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Blake Fields was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
The First Academy's victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Saint Andrew's, their record is now 22-6.
