The Pewitt Brahmas pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 70-55 fall against Redwater. Pewitt has not had much luck with Redwater recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Cedric Johnson and Wesley Smith certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Johnson scored 22 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Smith scored 19 points along with three steals. Smith continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Wooda Betts, who scored three points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyris Crowell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Crowell has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times he's played. Carson Wheat was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pewitt has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Redwater, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.
Pewitt won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hooks at 12:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hooks has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 746 points over their last ten matchups. As for Redwater, they will head out on the road to face off against Atlanta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Atlanta will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
