The San Leandro Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 13th straight loss. They were outmatched by Bishop O'Dowd at home and fell 81-45. While losing is never fun, San Leandro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 663rd, while Bishop O'Dowd is ranked 46th).
Leo Chapman was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Bishop O'Dowd. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chapman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tobias Aisien, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
San Leandro dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Bishop O'Dowd, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
San Leandro will head out on the road to challenge Fortune Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Fortune Early College will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Bishop O'Dowd, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. St. Patrick-St. Vincent has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,271 points over their last 18 contests.
