The Humboldt Cubs can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 78-17 win over Cherryvale. Humboldt's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Humboldt got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colden Cook out in front who scored 19 points. Cook hasn't dropped below 19 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sam Hull, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cherryvale struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Humboldt pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.4 points. As for Cherryvale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Humboldt will take on Bluestem at TBD on Tuesday. Bluestem will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 350th, while Humboldt is ranked 142nd). As for Cherryvale, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fredonia at 7:30 p.m. Fredonia will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Cherryvale surely won't give up without a fight.
