The Jefferson Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Elkhorn Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Jefferson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Whitewater with a sharp 13-0 win. The Eagles have beaten the Whippets the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Whippets has come to flipping the script.

Ashlyn Enke made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aeryn Messmann was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hildie Dempsey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitewater only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Elkhorn was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They fell 5-2 to Badger.
Elkhorn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Hagan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Elkhorn's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 20-4.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jefferson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Elkhorn struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jefferson took their victory against Elkhorn in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
