Two dominant players in Hayden Anderson and Ander Hunnicutt are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Daniel Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Walhalla Razorbacks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Daniel stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 92-22 win over Crescent. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Daniel has managed all season.
Daniel's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Anderson, who scored 16 points along with three steals and two blocks, and Brady Jones, who scored 16 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Will Swann, who scored eight points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Walhalla was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 60-55 to Pendleton. Walhalla has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Walhalla's loss came about despite a quality game from Tyler Lusk, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lusk has scored all season. Crews Richardson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists.
Daniel pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for Walhalla, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Daniel have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Walhalla, though, as they've been averaging only 33.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Daniel took their win against Walhalla when the teams last played on January 5th by a conclusive 94-74. The rematch might be a little tougher for Daniel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
