Football Recap: Sunlake Piles Up the Points Against Cypress Creek

Sunlake never let their opponents score on Monday. They breezed past the Cypress Creek Coyotes to the tune of 37-0. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Sunlake found their leader in sophomore Kate Smith, who threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes, and also rushed for 60 yards and one score. Smith's passing game has become a key predictor of the Seahawks' success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. Miley Falby was Smith's top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sunlake's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Charlotte Stryker with three.

Sunlake's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Cypress Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Sunlake didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-0 victory against Fivay on the 9th. As for Cypress Creek, they have also already played their next matchup, a 6-0 defeat against Classical Prep on the 9th.
