The Horizon Prep Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 49-39 to Julian. Horizon Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Julian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Julian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Cruz led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlo Martinez , who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Horizon Prep has fallen quite a ways from their 18-6 record last season and are now at 1-5. As for Julian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Horizon Prep will be playing at home against Monarch at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monarch presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Horizon Prep in California (Monarch is ranked 637th, while Horizon Prep is ranked 1343rd). As for Julian, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Empire at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain Empire will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
