Basketball Recap: Lailoni Staten's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andrean over Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger

Andrean was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting 59ers of the 43-24 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Andrean lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lailoni Staten, who posted five points in addition to ten boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Staten a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Arcella, who had 15 points.

Even though they lost, Andrean smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Andrean's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10.

Andrean wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-27 defeat against Northridge on the 28th. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-42 loss against NorthWood on the 28th.
