Highlands extended their road winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Ava Muzumdar. Everything went the Bluebirds' way against Newport on Wednesday as they made off with a 3-0 win thanks in part to Muzumdar, who had seven aces and three digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.3 aces per game.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Highlands was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-4, 25-13, 25-10.

Highlands got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amelia Frommeyer out in front who had nine digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Frommeyer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey Sorrentino, who had seven assists and four aces.
They weren't the only good server: Highlands was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in ten consecutive games.
Newport Central Catholic not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 9th (when they won 3-0). They blew past Calvary Christian 3-0. The Thoroughbreds have beaten the Cougars the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cougars has come to flipping the script.
While Newport Central Catholic won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-21, 25-22.
Newport Central Catholic now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Highlands, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
