The Edgewood Cougars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They strolled past Monroe with points to spare, taking the game 49-34. For Edgewood, this counts as revenge for the 56-39 defeat the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Edgewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylie Homan, who scored ten points along with two steals. Homan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Judd, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Edgewood's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Monroe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
Edgewood will stay at home for another game and welcome the Middies at 1:15 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Middletown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Wednesday. As for Monroe, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Eaton has now lost 13 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 14.
