Shady Spring is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Summers County is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will welcome the Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Shady Spring is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Shady Spring's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on PikeView with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sam Barnett was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Noah Fox was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Shady Spring's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jalon Bailey, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Shady Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Summers County hadn't done well against James Monroe recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bobcats walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Mavericks.
Summers County let Cody Snavely and Ryan Oliveros run wild. Snavely went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Oliveros went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Braiden Cozort was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Shady Spring has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-10-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Summers County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-17-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shady Spring has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Summers County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Shady Spring took their win against Summers County in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
