Montclair Kimberley Academy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in Super Essex - Colonial. The Cougars vanquished Glen Ridge 33-20 earlier in the week.
Cedar Grove's dynamic duo of Joe Slattery and Paul Rufo proved tough for East Side to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Slattery threw for 83 yards and Rufo had 67 yards receiving. David Njuko helped Cedar Grove's passing attack out by catching one ball for 16 yards.
Al Ports was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 82 yards as the Red Raiders bested the Red Raiders. Michael Howard also contributed to the rushing game with six yards on the ground.
Cedar Grove's Slattery and Rufo have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Slattery has thrown for 453 yards this season, while Rufo, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has nine catches for 213 yards. East Side's Ports leads the league in rushing yards with 253.
A big matchup in Super Essex - Colonial this week will be when Weequahic takes on Central. The Indians are currently in fourth, while the Blue Devils are in first.
