The Weslaco Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hanna Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Weslaco has eight straight victories, Hanna has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Weslaco put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-7 win over Rivera at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Weslaco had a senior duo take command as Elias Rodriguez jr rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries and Andres Sepulveda threw for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hanna fell victim to Los Fresnos' stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 31-0 loss at the hands of the Falcons.
Weslaco's win was their eighth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points per game. As for Hanna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Weslaco strolled past Hanna when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a score of 27-13. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Hanna's Kriz Pena, who rushed for 190 yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Weslaco to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
