Catholic Central and Schalmont are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Catholic Central Crusaders will be playing at home against the Schalmont Sabres at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Catholic Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 contests -- so hopefully Schalmont likes a good challenge.
Catholic Central put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 84-52 victory over La Salle Institute on the road. That's two games straight that Catholic Central has won by exactly 32 points.
Catholic Central found their leader in underclassman Darien Moore, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. Moore hasn't dropped below 16 points for 14 straight games. Qwameik Smith was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Schalmont was beaten by Lansingburgh 73-44 on Tuesday. Schalmont has struggled against Lansingburgh recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Catholic Central pushed their record up to 18-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Schalmont, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
Catholic Central took their victory against Schalmont in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 71-51. Does Catholic Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Schalmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
