Basketball Recap: Desert Edge Drops Highest Score of Season Against Fairfax

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Desert Edge). They took down the Fairfax Stampede 85-71 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Scorpions also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Leading Desert Edge to victory were CJ Johnson and Jude Ramirez. Johnson shot 69% from the field en route to 23 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Ramirez went 8-for-10 to rack up 24 points. Johnson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Appenzeller, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 13 points and eight boards.

Desert Edge now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Fairfax, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.

Coming up, Desert Edge and Tolleson will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. The Scorpions will be up against the Wolverines' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Fairfax, they will head out on the road to challenge Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stampede will need to watch out since the Bobcats have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
