The First Academy Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 70-46 loss at the hands of Windermere. While losing is never fun, The First Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Windermere is ranked 34th).
Despite the defeat, The First Academy saw an underclassman step up: Max Simmons scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo De jesus, who scored 12 points.
The First Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Windermere, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
The First Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bishop Moore at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. As for Windermere, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
