Jordan is 6-1 against Person since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Jordan Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Person Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Jordan easily dispatched Cedar Ridge on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Jordan fell just short of Heritage by a score of 12-10 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 15, 2024.
Jordan got a good showing from Philip Daly, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
At the plate, Nick Stewart and Carson Hickey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stewart scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Hickey scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Peyton Jones was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Person got the win against South Granville on Thursday by a conclusive 13-1.
Gavin Dodson and Brady Holmes did most of the damage at the plate: Dodson scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Holmes scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Holmes posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Riggan, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Person always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Granville only posted an OBP of .375.
Jordan's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs over those games. As for Person, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Everything went Jordan's way against Person in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Jordan made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jordan since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
