The Berne Union Rockets couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 68-33 loss at the hands of Nelsonville-York on Friday. Berne Union was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.
Leading Nelsonville-York to victory were Briant Call and Keagan Swope. Call scored 16 points, while Swope dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Thompson, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Berne Union's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Nelsonville-York, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Berne Union will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bishop Rosecrans at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Bishop Rosecrans focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Nelsonville-York, they will head out on the road to face off against New Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
