The Bingham Miners will challenge the Lone Peak Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Bingham is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Bingham proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Skyridge 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Bingham got a great performance from Boston Snyder as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Bingham let Bauer Williams and Blake Shafer run wild. Williams scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Shafer scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Shafer has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kam Beck, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Bingham hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Lone Peak had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Weber. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Grady Slesk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Andrew Ladd was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bowen Barnes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Bingham pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Lone Peak, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
