Regina will venture away from home to challenge the Fraser Ramblers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Regina turned things around against Bishop Foley two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Ventures. The high-scoring effort was just what Regina needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Morgan Thimm made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Thimm was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sara Wilking, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Mackenzie Ryska was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Regina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Foley only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fraser, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand New Haven a 15-0 shutout on Monday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Ramblers this season.
Fraser got a massive performance out of Madison MacLeod, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three RBI gave MacLeod a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Gajewski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Regina's record is now 3-6. As for Fraser, their record now sits at 10-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Regina hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Fraser struggles in that department as they've averaged .359. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Regina's way against Fraser when the teams last played back in June of 2015, as Regina made off with a 10-0 win. Will Regina repeat their success, or does Fraser has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
