Bergenfield has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Pascack Valley Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. After the pair made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky.
Last Friday, Bergenfield got the win against NV - Demarest by a conclusive 28-6.
Gabe Perez got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 307 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 28 yards and a touchdown on only two passes. Perez's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards.
Meanwhile, Pascack Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on River Dell with a sharp 48-27 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Pascack Valley had established a 20 point advantage.
Kevin Regula had a dynamite game for Pascack Valley, rushing for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also picking up 51 receiving yards. Regula is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Pascack Valley also got a significant boost from Adam Shaw, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.
Bergenfield's win pushed their record up to 2-5, while Pascack Valley's bumped their own up to the opposite: 5-2.
Bergenfield won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, slipping by Pascack Valley 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bergenfield since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
