The Northview Knights pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 79-58 walloping at the hands of Danville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northview in their matchups with Danville: they've now lost four in a row.
Trayven Buis and Brayden Goff certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Buis scored 17 points, while Goff scored 14 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Buis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Fowler, who scored six points.
Danville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Lawrence led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Lawrence has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Jace Scrafton was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Northview's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Danville, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Northview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-45 win vs. Brown County on the 9th. Danville will head out on the road to face off against Avon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Danville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 415 points over their last six matchups.
