It was a good run, but the Escambia County Blue Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to Hillcrest 65-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Robert Simpson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds for Hillcrest. Simpson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Jermonte Stallworth was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Escambia County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Hillcrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
Escambia County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Satsuma at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Satsuma is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses. As for Hillcrest, they will square off against Robertsdale at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Robertsdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Hillcrest is ranked 72nd).
