Volleyball Recap: Northside's Run of Seven Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of seven wins, Northside's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the St. Anne-Pacelli Vikings by a score of 2-1. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2021.

Northside started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-12, 15-10.

Laila Pope paced Northside's offense, picking up nine kills. Pope got some help from Lacie Watts and her 22 assists.

Northside's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for St. Anne-Pacelli, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Northside will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Houston County at 5:15 p.m. on the 10th. As for St. Anne-Pacelli, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Lee-Scott Academy on the 2nd.
