Floyd is 1-9 against Dora since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Broncos will take on the Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. Floyd has given up an average of 19 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Floyd is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 18th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against Elida, falling 28-7.
Floyd saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daxton Kuchta, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Kuchta hit this season. Adan Nieto was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Dora came into Monday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Melrose on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Timmy Neal made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Dora got a massive performance out of Rylan Harris, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The Coyotes are 2-1 when Harris posts two or more runs, but 0-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ashton Davis, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Dora's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-9. As for Floyd, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Floyd has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Floyd might still be hurting after the 18-8 loss they got from Dora in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
