After five games on the road, Oak Ridge is heading back home. They will take on the New Caney Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Oak Ridge came up short against Montgomery and fell 65-52. While losing is never fun, Oak Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Montgomery is ranked 148th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taylor Jones, who scored 16 points along with 6 steals. The match was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Daigle, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, New Caney suffered a tough 48-27 defeat at the hands of The Woodlands on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Caney in their matchups with The Woodlands: they've now lost three in a row.
Oak Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for New Caney, they bumped their record down to 6-11 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Oak Ridge against New Caney when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 48-13 victory. Does Oak Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Caney turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
