The Stratton Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They really took it to Genoa-Hugo/Karval for the full four quarters, racking up a 82-34 win at home. Stratton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 30 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Cyler Notter, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gage Levin, who scored 13 points.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eddy Franey, who scored eight points. Dane Lockhart was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Genoa-Hugo/Karval struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory (which was Stratton's third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 46 points. As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Byers is ranked 109th, while the Eagles are ranked 98th). As for Genoa-Hugo/Karval, they will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fleming has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
