The South Grand Prairie Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Arlington Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in South Grand Prairie's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Last Friday, South Grand Prairie didn't have too much trouble with Grand Prairie at home as they won 31-14.
South Grand Prairie's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Stanley, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 71 receiving yards. Stanley's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Josiah Lucas and his 125 yards on the ground were also a key factor in South Grand Prairie's win.
Meanwhile, Arlington came up short against Bowie on Friday and fell 28-21.
The losing side was boosted by Coleman Cravens, who threw for 66 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
South Grand Prairie's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points per game. As for Arlington, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-4.
South Grand Prairie strolled past Arlington in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 44-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Grand Prairie since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
