Sam Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Indianapolis Kings made sure to put some runs up on the board against Greenwood Christian Academy on Tuesday. Indianapolis Kings was the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Greenwood Christian Academy. The result was nothing new for Indianapolis Kings, who have now won seven contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jesse Dengler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Indianapolis Kings let Luke Hightower and Austin Kelly run wild. Hightower went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Kelly went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jace Jenkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Indianapolis Kings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenwood Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Indianapolis Kings, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Greenwood skirted past Indianapolis Kings 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will the Woodmen repeat their success, or do Indianapolis Kings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
