The Southwood Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Mississinewa 50-44. Southwood was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mississinewa apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Lola Winer and Emmerson Chellis certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Winer scored 19 points along with 7 rebounds, while Chellis scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds.
It was another big night for Jaci Crick, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds for Mississinewa. That makes it two consecutive games in which Crick has scored at least 25% of Mississinewa's points. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Nash, who scored 9 points along with 8 steals.
Southwood has fallen quite a ways from their 19-6 record last season and are now at 1-4. As for Mississinewa, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwood will take on Northfield at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Northfield is ranked 305th, while Southwood is ranked 304th). As for Mississinewa, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Oak Hill at 12:30 p.m. Hopefully Oak Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
