Stanton County and the Longhorns are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Stanton County Trojans will be playing at home against the Springfield Longhorns at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Saturday, Stanton County had to suffer through a rough 52-20 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Stanton County has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Stanton County saw an underclassman step up: Avery Scott scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Scott is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Springfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 39-35 to the Patriots.
Stanton County's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Springfield, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Stanton County took their victory against the Longhorns when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 54-31. Will Stanton County repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
