Martin County is a perfect 4-0 against Pamlico County since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Gators will venture away from home to face off against the Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Martin County sitting on four straight wins and Pamlico County on three.
On Friday, Martin County made easy work of Northeastern and carried off a 10-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Easton Warren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Landon Lane, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Kamarion Larry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Martin County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pamlico County). They blew past Jones Senior 28-8 on Friday. With that win, the Hurricanes brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Ayden Broughton and Peyton Sevenski made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Broughton tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Sevenski tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Pamlico County: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two hits, but 7-8 otherwise. At bat, Broughton went 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Sevenski went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Martin County's record is now 16-5. As for Pamlico County, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Martin County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pamlico County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Martin County got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Pamlico County by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
