The O'Connor Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Basha Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. O'Connor is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
While O'Connor's victory against Boulder Creek wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. O'Connor skirted past Boulder Creek 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Jaguars since March 31, 2022.
James Carr and Tommy Pascanu did most of the damage at the plate: Carr went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Pascanu scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most hits Carr has posted since March 1st. Hunter Day also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Basha, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Sunnyslope last Thursday as Basha made off with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Bears have won three games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
David Richter tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Basha let Paxton Koch and Clayton Cooper run wild. Koch went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Cooper got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Chase Chanley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
O'Connor's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Basha, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.
O'Connor beat Basha 6-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Does O'Connor have another victory up their sleeve, or will Basha turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
