The South Pointe Stallions entered their tilt with the Lancaster Bruins with 18 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 19. South Pointe took down the Bruins 61-46 on Tuesday. Given South Pointe's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bruins are ranked 160th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Pointe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Victoria Morris, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Morris has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Lucas, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eliza Baskins, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Zatyra Walls was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
South Pointe's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. As for Lancaster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-14.
South Pointe will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Warriors at 6:15 p.m. Indian Land will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Lancaster, they will head out on the road to challenge the Copperheads at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Catawba Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday.
