The Olympia Titans will be taking part in a tournament against the Edgewater Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Olympia's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Edgewater's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Olympia took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Dr. Phillips by a score of 8-3. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Olympia got a great performance from Maven Leman as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joseph Stone, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jack Colavecchio, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Edgewater gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Lake Buena Vista with a sharp 9-2 win.
Isaiah Thomas looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Edgewater's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-5-1 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Sean Baker was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Nicol, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Olympia's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Edgewater, their win bumped their record up to 2-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Olympia has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edgewater struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Olympia beat Edgewater 7-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
