Wiregrass Ranch is a perfect 10-0 against Zephyrhills since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bulls will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Wiregrass Ranch will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Wiregrass Ranch made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wesley Chapel, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulls put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-2 win on Thursday. Considering the Bulls have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubrey Zechmann was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Valentin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Zechmann wasn't the only one making solid contact: Wiregrass Ranch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Zephyrhills started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Auburn Riverside. They fell just short of the Ravens by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday.
Melanie Moreno made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Rivera, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Wiregrass Ranch pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Zephyrhills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9-1 record this season.
Zephyrhills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wiregrass Ranch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. It's a different story for Zephyrhills, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Wiregrass Ranch's hitters?
Wiregrass Ranch took their victory against Zephyrhills when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 17-2 score. Will the Bulls repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
