After both having extra time off, Dream City Christian Open and the Imagine Prep Storm will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Dream City Christian Open had already won two in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it three on December 1st. They had just enough and edged Heritage Academy out 41-38.
Meanwhile, Imagine Prep put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way with points to spare, taking the game 71-57. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Imagine Prep has scored all year.
Imagine Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jaylen Cassidy, who scored 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds, and Brady Heuseveldt, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Cassidy has scored at least 25% of Imagine Prep's points. Hayden Kelton was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Dream City Christian Open's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Imagine Prep, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
Dream City Christian Open was taken down by Imagine Prep 64-37 when the teams last played back in January. Thankfully for Dream City Christian Open, Amir Muhammad (who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
