The Barbour County Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell 57-50 to Ariton. While losing is never fun, Barbour County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while the Purple Cats are ranked 154th).
Ariton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lawson Leger out in front who scored 16 points along with three steals. Matthew McNair was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Barbour County dropped their record down to 3-20 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Ariton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.
Barbour County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Ariton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Providence Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
