The Woden Eagles will face off against the Hemphill Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hemphill will be up against a hot Woden team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Eagles put the hurt on Broaddus with a sharp 16-1 win on Saturday.

Autumn Bridges and Chandler Lindsey made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Bridges struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Lindsey pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Bridges went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Lindsey went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Lindsey a new career-high.
In other batting news, Woden let Addison Taylor and Kooper Welch run wild. Taylor went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Welch went 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jolette Montoya, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Woden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Broaddus only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hemphill). They never let Colmesneil get on the board and left with a 26-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Rylie Corley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, seven RBI, and three runs. Baleigh Alonzo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.
Woden's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Hemphill, their win bumped their record up to 21-8-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woden hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Hemphill struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woden came up short against Hemphill in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 9-4. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
