Basketball Recap: Lakehill Prep Takes a Loss

Lakehill Prep lost against First Baptist on December 10th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lakehill Prep Warriors took a blow against the First Baptist Saints, falling 66-39. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 737th, while the Saints are ranked 355th).

Despite the loss, Lakehill Prep had strong showings from Drew Perry, who posted 22 points, and Skylar Lambert, who put up seven points. That's the most points Lambert has posted since back in November. Kelvin (KJ) Walker was another key player, putting up two points and eight rebounds.

Micah Foster was his usual excellent self, posting 17 points along with six assists and six steals for First Baptist. Foster has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Rheams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

With the defeat, Lakehill Prep broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5. As for First Baptist, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Lakehill Prep will venture away from home to take on Greenville Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for First Baptist, they will host Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. First Baptist knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Texas Alliance of Christian Athletes likes a good challenge.
