McAlester is 0-3 against Coweta since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The McAlester Buffaloes will be playing at home against the Coweta Tigers at 8:00 p.m. McAlester has now lost 13 straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since January 4.
McAlester pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Sapulpa by a score of 60-57. While losing is never fun, McAlester can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while Sapulpa is ranked 126th).
Coweta can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Will Rogers College 65-38 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Coweta has managed all season.
Coweta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Cooper, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Coulton Pierce, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
McAlester dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Coweta, their win bumped their record up to 9-13.
McAlester came up short against Coweta in their previous meeting back in January, falling 67-62. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cooper, who scored 14 points along with seven assists. Now that McAlester knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
