AAAAAA Region 2 recap September 4, 2013
Rockdale County moved up to 267 from 303 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAAAA Region 2. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Salem 20-0.
Lovejoy was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Mundy's Mill 41-12.
Newton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Romario Johnson threw for 222 and 2 touchdowns and Davonta Jones had 80 yards receiving. On the ground Johnson contributed 79 yards. Augustus Murray helped Newton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 58 yards.
