The Doherty Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They strolled past Rampart with points to spare, taking the game 94-75. Given Doherty's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Rampart is ranked 128th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Doherty got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was James Pulliam out in front who scored 30 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Pulliam posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Mack, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Doherty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Rampart, they bumped their record down to 5-7 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.
Doherty will play host again and welcome Fountain-Fort Carson, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rampart won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against The Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
