Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only New Palestine walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Roncalli Royals on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Dragons sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Rigg Mahurin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Liam Atkinson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kingston Hedges also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
New Palestine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roncalli only managed six hits.
New Palestine's record now sits at 23-3. As for Roncalli, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-5.
