Baseball Recap: St. John Paul II Catholic Has No Trouble Against Mohave Accelerated

St. John Paul II Catholic barely beat Mohave Accelerated the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. St. John Paul II Catholic put the hurt on Mohave Accelerated with a sharp 11-5 victory on Friday. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Carlos Pedroza and Wyatt Bacome made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pedroza didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bacome struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Pedroza scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Bacome scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most hits Pedroza has posted since back in March of 2024.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Standage, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

St. John Paul II Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Mohave Accelerated dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
