The St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for St. John's Christian Academy and three for Calhoun Academy.
St. John's Christian Academy lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Cathedral Academy 45-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John's Christian Academy in their matchups with Cathedral Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Calhoun Academy came up short against Curtis Baptist on Friday and fell 34-21. While losing is never fun, Calhoun Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 252nd in South Carolina, while Curtis Baptist is ranked 122nd in Georgia).
St. John's Christian Academy dropped their record down to 6-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Calhoun Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
St. John's Christian Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Calhoun Academy when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 34-29 win. Will St. John's Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Calhoun Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
