The Stoneham Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 74-46 victory over Northeast Metro RVT at home. The victory was some much needed relief for Stoneham as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Northeast Metro RVT lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alesandre Monge, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Richard Cardoso was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Stoneham's victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Northeast Metro RVT, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stoneham will take on Watertown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Watertown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Stoneham likes a good challenge. Northeast Metro RVT won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Innovation Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Innovation Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
