The Escondido Charter White Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Escondido Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Escondido Charter is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, the stars were shining brightly for Escondido Charter in a 61-43 victory over Pacific Ridge.
Escondido Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joe Scates out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Scates set a new season high mark in assists with five. Ashton Pincock was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Escondido's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 96-36 loss at the hands of Vista. While losing is never fun, Escondido can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1006th, while Vista is ranked 263rd).
The victory got Escondido Charter back to even at 6-6. As for Escondido, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Escondido Charter against Escondido in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Escondido Charter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
